Obi-Tabot lands D1 scholarship

Last Tuesday, Brittany Obi-Tabot signed her official letter of intent to attend Fairfield University. The 6-foot-1 center/forward who plays high school ball at Watertown High School is a tremendous athlete with an incredible wing span and great hands. Her game is a characterized by her innate ability to play well in space, is a very effective rebounder especially on the offensive end and is able to put people on her back with a host of finishing moves in the post.

As a freshman, Obi-Tabot broke the school’s single-season record for rebounds. She enters her senior season just 50 shy of 1,000 career points while just 50 rebounds away from the same figure. Last year, she averaged 18.1 points a game while also averaging 13 boards a game. Brittany played in the offseason for Donald Morris’ Basketball to the Limit AAU program.

Quoted in the local Watertown paper, Brittany states “I was contacted by Fairfield about a month ago, and when I told my mother I was getting a full scholarship, she (her mom) was really excited,”

“I can’t thank coach Rimas and my AAU coach, Donald Morris, enough for what they have done for me,” Obi-Tabot said. “They both helped my game a lot and made me a better player. I also want to thank all of my teammates for that, too.”
