Lesure to play for Hawks
Mariah Lesure, the former Amherst Regional standout center, who is currently attending Tabor Academy in Marion for her senior year, has committed to play at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia next year.
The 6-foot center, who helped the Amherst High School to a 20-0 regular season and a trip to the Western Massachusetts Division 1 Tournament finals last year before transferring to Tabor Academy for her senior year.
Reportedly the decision came down to Saint Joseph's and Rider University. Lesure had the right combination of athleticism, interior and perimeter skills so that St Joes used their only scholarship on her.
The Hawks went 17-15 last year and played in the Women's NIT. Known for her aggressive post moves, unrelenting motor, and hard nosed rebounding, Lesure has solid finese abilities including a solid 15 foot jumper and an ability to handle the ball on the perimeter.
She is the third member of the Tabor Academy team to commit - Shanise Bultron to Hartford and Mel Giegerich to Davidson
